An ELCA Movement—Calling the Church to Prayer and Renewal PDF E-mail
Written by Kathryn Love
There is movement of the Spirit in this church and one of the ways is where people come together for prayer and revival. Objective 1, of the evangelism strategy, “Call the Church to Prayer,” and Objective III (F), invites the hosting of revivals.  Revivals are bubbling-up as a result of prayer conferences, and a sincere yearning for more on the part of congregants. Models for revival service include evening gatherings, singing, testimonies, and readings. In most cases, the sacraments of Holy Baptism, Communion, as well as healing, is reflected in the preaching.  There are gatherings in small and large congregations, as well as, outdoor tent services. The people come, filling the church, and go away filling renewed. These services are intentional about reaching all ethnicity, so that all may be refreshed and committed to a life of discipleship.
